In this episode of Life Interrupted, I sit down with my mom to talk about the woman she was before motherhood became part of her story.

She became a mother at just 20 years old while growing up in the Bronx, and we talk about her childhood, her family, her dreams, my father, her career, and what it was like learning how to become a mother while she was still becoming herself.

Now that I’m a mother, I see so much of her story differently. This conversation gave me a chance to ask questions I never thought to ask growing up and to look at motherhood, family, sacrifice, growth, and generational perspective through a completely different lens.

This episode is about more than our relationship. It’s about remembering that before our mothers were “Mom,” they were women with their own lives, hopes, mistakes, plans, and stories.

A personal conversation about motherhood, growing up, looking back, and understanding the women who came before us.
